Assignment #2
    • Put a line between Assignment #1 and Assignment #2.
    • Read chapter two.
    • On your student page ABOVE assignment #1, choose one of the following: suspense or foreshadowing.
    • Find four examples of suspense OR foreshadowing in chapter two.
    • Write the exact wording from the book - that means type the sentences exactly as they are written.
    • In a well-written paragraph, explain why these sentences clearly show either suspense or foreshadowing.
In chapter two Agatha Christi put in suspense and foreshadowing. I chose foreshadowing to answer the questions because I remember it more. "Queer business when you came to think of
it---the whole thing was queer---very queer...."This is a good example of what foreshadowing is because you do not know what the author is talking about when she says business quite yet.I am guessing that later in the story she will explain what Fred Narracott means by business. I also found "Funny place to met him....here---out of the world" This is a good example of foeshadowing because it gives a hint that Dr. Armstrong and and Mr. Justice Wargrave have met each other somewhere before."And after---?" is a good example of foreshadowing because it is listing what Anthony wanted to do after dinner, and then it says "And after---?" which makes me wonder what he is going to do after he eats dinner. And finally the phrase "Not straight. He'd swear the man wasn't straight" is a good example of foreshadowing because it sounds like Lombard did something or is going to do somethig that will make General Macarthur think that he is not straight.

Hi Alex-
I assume you are still working on this answer. I will see you at recess on Thursday as planned. Be sure to read the directions and follow each one carefully.

How does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?

In a narrative you know all about the characters and what they are doing. In a mystery you find out all the information along with the characters so the author can leave out some information on a character that could make the mystery hard to solve without. Also in a mystery novel the writer will give you some false information so when you think you have solved the mystery the author will give you another piece of information that may make you change your mind. The climaxes arein different spots. Normally in a narrative the climax is more in the middle.IN a mystery novel it is closer to the end.

How might the title be a clue to the story?

The title "And Then There Were None" makes me think the book is going to be a murder mystery, where people either disapper or get killed. I think there will be disapperances in a certian family or group.

Alex- Good answers. Please reread your post and look for mistakes, especially comma placement. What about links? Let me know if you need help. Mrs. M
